The GTE (Grande Traversata Elbana)

The thrill of trekking just steps from Le Acacie

The Grande Traversata Elbana is the island’s “queen” trail: a spectacular ridge of about 72 km that crosses Elba from East to West.

Why try it during your stay at Le Acacie:
Tips from our Staff

You don’t need to cover all 72 km at once! Many of our guests choose to experience the GTE “in small bites”, walking only the most scenic stretches or the variants leading to the villages of Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri.

Difficulty: Hiking level (requires trekking shoes and a good supply of water).
Ideal season: low season (May and late September), to enjoy the colours of the blooms or the shades of iron under the mild sun.
